Long time no update - the usual
New Years - Three course vegetarian dinner at my place, party at Gunnar's. I was really tired and the boyfriend was working the next day, so we went home rather early, around one thirty or so. But very nice albeit a bit downplayed.
School - I'd really rather not talk about it. I still have to do a make-up assignment for a missed seminar from the first course in the fall-semester, and there is one assignment I still haven't completed that should have been turned in on the 18th of december. I just don't seem to have the energy, but I'm working on it. (There ought to have been an exclamation mark there but I couldn't muster the energy for it) There is also the tiny matter of the exam that is still yet to come for the last course this semester, I've barely opened a book.
Choir - concert went (really) well, Lucia: was up at five o clock in the morning and business as usual. For now still on christmas break. We're getting a new conductor, the old one is quitting (but staying on for another semester in an advisory capacity) along with my my old nemesis-mentor-drinking companion the über-tenor (who doesn't). It's sad, really, but also a little exciting.
Family - I have a boyfriend - again. Don't know where it'll go yet. It's not love, exactly, yet, but it's a something. Another writer, actually, fancy that. Though I haven't read his book yet, and I'm somewhat afraid to do so :-)
Work - I work too much. I now have three different places. Christmas break wasn't really a break but in reality incessant work, which is also a big part of the explanation of the lack of energy for school-stuff. But I'll try to work less, once this week (I work five nights out of seven plus two afternoons this week) is over and done with. In fact it's one of my new years resolutions (not as definitive as a promise, more of a "most of the time"-thing) to have some free time every week. The others are: excercise and fresh air, more studying, more cooking, more cleaning and to do a followup on how well I succeed in my new years resolutions :-) The goal is to make my life healthier, gaining energy and hopefully my immune system back in the process, and more balanced. We'll see how well it works. I could use some killer T-cells or whatever there is, I've been having a cough for the past five weeks - it's moving down but at the same time becoming les frequent, I don't now what tot hink. I am however seeing a physician tomorrow.
Well, his was short, but I hope sweet, and I guess I can add "writing more often" to my resolutions..
Love
Sofia
Post script(um)
you might have noticed that I mention nothing about the riots in my neighbourhood. This is intentional since they haven't bothered me in the slightest. My flatmate's been a little more concerned, but more for the fireworks not actually connected to the riots but still going up, or sometimes parallell to the ground, just about all the time during the last couple of weeks.

Judiska kören
Hej!
Det här är ett rekryteringsförsök. Och så en liten inblick i en annan av mina körer..
Judiska körens personage:
Judiska kören består av ett antal judiska tanter, ungefär tre judiska herrar och en eller annan shiksa som jag.. Det är inte så låg nivå på den som man kan tro med ledning av ovanstående beskrivning, repertoaren är tvärtom ganska avancerad klangmässigt, men tenorstämman faller ofta bort (eller så sjunger dirigenten den, men han har ju ofta andra saker för sig) och de basar som kan alternerar mellan vad som för tillfället är viktigast.. Dirigenten, Sverker Zadig är väldigt duktig och rätt så välrenommerad, judiska kören är ett personligt engagemang för honom. Som rutinerad körsångare kan man lätt missa en eller annan övning och klara sig bra ändå eftersom det handlar ganska mycket om repetition och det är ganska olika nivå på sångarna i kören. Så vitt jag vet är vi tre som är icke-judiska i kören, jag och två musiklärarinnor från Malmö, och alla är naturligtvis välkommna;
Repertoar:

About China and other things
I'm home from China. I bought two teapots with cups and also teacups as presents for assorted people - you know who you are. Though I presume you don't read this. Anyway, I didn't kill any of my relatives, I have lot's a of pictures of or from interesting skyscrapers, and, really, what to tell you?
A week ago I bought a stagepiano, in essentials a keyboard which I can record from, or just connect to my computer or stereo and use ase a regular digital piano. I have the feeling that I won't do too much recording (but who knows, maybe I too harbour a slumbering musician?) but hopefully it will assist me in my choir-conducting class and I'm certain that I will learn my parts better before the concert than I normally do.. I certainly made me totally neglect my law exm on tuesday.
Talking about music I might tell you that Claviculae is having it's second training weekend the last week of November, we'll sing some christmas songs hopefully and chew over the old stuff one more round - I wasn't too happy when I listened to the recordings after the mini-concert. We're also setting up a quartet for choir camp mid-november. And just to fill you in all the way I'm going to the FN-choir ball on the 22nd of November, We're as usual arranging the Halloween-party on the 1st and I'm actually so far not engaged for the 8th-9th..
To tell you something more about music I've actually started on the conducting class I may or may not have talked about here before, and I'm quite relieved. First of all, we're only three people in it, second, one of those three is Jens and the third doesn't seem to be dangerous either (he's the one I'm trying to recruit to the jewish choir by the way, see last or next post), third the teacher don't seem to intimidating either and fourth it was possible to change day, which means that I won't miss ALL MY MANDATORY SEMINARS in my law-class.
On monday I've promised myself and lots of other people to actually go to the weekly dance (lindy hop). I have to get started or it will all disappear and wouldn't that have been 550 kr wasted..
School is school and it will be interesting to see if I passed my exam last tuesday, the one I neglected to study for. It's just sort of rolling on, even though I find law a very rewarding study.
Work - I don't seem to be working very much, but I'm not too worried, in fact I'm quite glad. And I suppose it will change again soon.
Anyways - just to let you know..

Dance me till the end of love
My sister is inviting me, Johan and our little brother Tim to go with her and her boyfriend to Shanghai. She's been talking about it before, but I didn't think she'd actually go through with it.. Anyways, we leave on the 13th of september and come back on the 27th. So long suckers!
Music: Me and some friends have recently started an a capella singing group. We call ourselves Claviculae, which is just a tad pretentious and we had our first concert on the 17th of August. All in all I think it went fairly well actually, but we could have used two more days of practice, ideally. For choir people out there, we are one base, one tenor, one soprano and two altos, and our parade number was "Kärlek genom glas" by another swedish a capellagroup which went fairly well. The low spot of the concert was the pitch-change in the jazzier number "Att angöra en brygga" in the famout setting of the real group - but water under the bridge! The three other songs of the concert were "Java Jive", "Smedsvisa" and "Gimme" by ABBA.
School: The new semester have started, we're studying law and I'm reallt looking forward to it. Goodbye incomprehensibly worded theories about alienation, early attachment and social politics - welcome hard, cold world of requisits, marital rights and costody negotiations.. The amount of litterature is daunting, and so are the seminar questions, but finally, FINALLY a course where there is no group examination and where they actually wont pass you if you don't understand! This is where the less fortunate are separated from the able. At least so I hope, but we'll see..
Work - yes, of course. After a couple of long days me and orange R is getting along fairly well - she knows that I'm, capable of dragging her if she doesn't walk and that I am at least as stubborn as she is (actually this is not true, but she hasn't found this out yet), after a periodically intense summer me and blue H is going from clarity to clarity even though he makes me extremely frustrated sometimes (more so than OR actually), and me and red M is as always on a friendly cheese-eating basis. Green Z's infatuation seems to have cooled off (finally), Pink C seems to like me (? What is that about?), red A accepts me, Blue R is happier with correct medication, Yellow C is as usual, Yellow A seem more stable and less hung up on coffee now that summer is over.. I'm going to work at a third place too, where I used to work in 2004. First as sleeping nearby (whatever the correct term may be) but later on probably in daytime as well. I dont really want to work there daytime, but it seems impolite to come in and only grab the nights.. Anyway I'm thinking that the nighttime work will do wonders for my studies!
Crayfishparties: only one this year, last saturday of august. Great hit for all involved. This was possibly the first year ever where no one was sitting sulking in a corner for at least some part of the evening. (Probably because most of my friends were no-shows.) I caught a total of 29 crayfish and boiled a total of 25 of them - I threw the other ones back since they were tiny. They looked very nice, but unfortunately had helminths (parasitic worms) which made them rather disgusting to eat. We sang a lot and drank a lot - as a crayfishparty should be!
Lovelife: classified
Dancing: this weekend I'm taking a swing-dancing course in Lund.. I have recently discovered that my heart is set on salsa however, so sometime this year I'm taking a course in that!
I almost forgot my balcony! I have lots and lots of tomatoes but no squash, a few sugarpeas, some nasturtium (indian cress) that don't look so good some leek that hasn't grown as big as I expected and some Geraniums that have truly lit my balcony.. I'm taking some of it in for fall soon and I'm definitively cooking somthing from my tomatoes..
Oh, and I've recently taken to naming all my posts with phrases from my favouritesongs.
Love you!
